I John 5: 4-5 (MSG); Revelations 2: 7; 3: 5 & 21 (AMP); Jude 3
As Christians, we have no other option but to live an overcoming life if we want to get to heaven. What most believers think is that it doesn’t matter if they fail as long as they make heaven. No! Failures have no part in heaven. I want you to understand that that’s what Jesus was saying in these Scriptures. You have no business or share in the tree of life if you are not an overcomer. So that’s why you have been so programmed and you must understand that there’s no failure in you at all.
In Revelations 3: 5 & 21, the Bible says that we overcome the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God. We do what? Overcome. Overcome what? The world. It is coming again and again. God says he who overcomes will accordingly be dressed in white clothing and would never have his name blotted out of the book of life. Jesus says that he will confess and openly acknowledge the names of overcomers before his father and before his angels (verse 5). Verse 21 tells us that Jesus earned the right to sit by the Father because he overcame. Likewise, you also will have that privilege when you overcome this world by believing in Jesus.
The word ‘overcoming’ implicates battle. There is something God expects you to contend with in battle. You see, one of the things I’ve discovered in life is that every time you face a challenge, it is because faith wants to be expressed. If you don’t take advantage of that opportunity, you are frustrating the grace of God that is upon your life. Faith can only be expressed in the face of opposition. Jude verse 3 reads: “Beloved while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I was compelled to write to you urgently appealing that you fight strenuously for the defense of the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints…”. The point being made here is that our victory is stamped when we exercise our faith in the face of challenges. Receive the Godly courage to exercise your faith in all life’s challenges in Jesus’ name. Amen!
